Oregon Public Education Network hosts “Your Attention Please” on Monday June 15, 2026 at the Grand Theater in Salem. The film and panel discussion features Kristin Bride, who was instrumental in passing Carson’s Law to prevent cyberbullying in 2021.
OPEN understands that there’s more to be done. The harmful effects of social media, artificial intelligence and education technologies (edtech) amplify the effects of standardized training of students.
Continued outsourcing of district management to Learning Management Systems, literacy curriculum to edtech and employees to third-party staffing leave no room for local control. The recent Canvas breach and subsequent ransom payment to cyberterrorists demonstrates this. School officials claim that the data theft and privacy violations “are out of our control.”
Please join OPEN and Kristin Bride as we kick-off our campaign to stop the attack by Big Tech on Oregon students and take back control of public education. Our main focus will be on expanding play-based learning access and helping coalitions with media literacy, data privacy and screen restriction legislation.
